We just did a review on the XLR Industries Evolution rifle stock (Extreme Long Range). We were very impressed with this system.

Very sexy, I love those scopes, but they cost more than the rifles.

The Loupold Mark IV is pricey (about $1200) but the SFWA SS on the green rifle is a great scope for $299-$399. We've accomplished groups of .247" at 100 yards and killed one gallon jugs from 950 yards with it.

Here's where you can find them: http://swfa-ss.com/
Some people call a piece of junk but I've never actually found a bad review on it. Everyone says it's equal to any scope four times the price!

Ooooooh! It's a non-AR! And with a non-Leupold scope, too!

I can hardly wait for all the competitive shooters to be shooting those at the next F Class match. If nothing else, it will lighten the mood significantly.

I've manage to impress some folks with some distance pistol shooting here and there (100 yards when I'm having a -very- good day) but I don't think I'm ever going to manage a shot past about 200 yards. Color me impressed.

Those are incredibly good looking stocks. And then I must humor myself... What is the street price looking to be?

Great pictures!

The stocks are ugly, yet tactical, which really makes them awesome.

I also wonder about the price.

Personally, I would go for one of these because there is no fitting and no sending the rifle out to be fit. I could do it myself.

Nice looking rifle but .308???????

i prefer 7mm-08, low recoil, good ballistics.

The 7mm-08 is a necked down .308 so i think that the mags should handle 7mm-08.

Why not .308? Extremely common caliber, well known ballistics so lots of easy to find info out there for the shooter, lots of good factory match ammo if you don't reload, etc. It makes sense to offer your product to the most commonly used caliber for long range shooting. I don't think this is necessarily being targeted to the custom bench rest crowd. Also keep in mind the reviewers said they are/were military and police snipers and you can see why they were using .308.

Looks like they offer it in .300wm, .338lapua, and .223. Pretty much because they're using accuracy international mags, I imagine.

Nice review and interesting chassis, OP. The only thing I think I wouldn't like is the funky stock. I'm sure it works well and has lots of adjustability, but it looks like it could get in the way or snag if you're moving around. I guess folding would help.

I'm a fan of good quality, inexpensive scope and regularly take issue with the "your scope should cost as much as your rifle" crowd....

but claiming that a scope that costs $299-$399 is as good as a scope that costs $1200-$1600, well, that's insanity.

Me too. Your scope should cost MORE than your rifle

General rule of scope buying:
If (Scope cost) < (Rifle cost)
The rifle will be unjustifiably blamed for problems that are not its fault.

If (Scope cost) > (Rifle cost)
Make sure the rifle is worthy of the scope.

WOW how the heck did a thread about a STOCK turn into "You can't shoot unless you have a billion dollar scope" thread?

I think some people need to pull their head out of their 5th point of contact.

I'll take my $500 rifle and my $500 scope and put them against your $500 rifles and $1200 scopes any day of the week. Oh I'll put my cheap worthless AR with its $500 Nikon up against your $1200 scopes as well.

Scope snobes are STUPID.

As for the stock. I think it looks bad. But if you like it go for it. I would never be caught dead with that thing on any of my rifles.

It's not a thread diversion when a claim comes from the thread creator.

Did you miss the part where the OP stated that his $299 scope is every bit as good as a scope that cost 4 times as much money?

You don't have to be a scope snob to argue that point. I am the very antithesis of a scope snob and I find that argument ridiculous.

I'm all for budget scopes. There's NO WAY any $299 scope is as good as a $1200 scope. As good as a $600 scope, maybe. $1200? No way.

BUT The NAVY SEALS use SWFA SS scopes. They got a contract you didn't know that?

I didn't miss that comment.

I just took it as a small plug.

Dang I wish I was down in the lower 48 :)...wait I got an idea, I have a friend who can help me take you up on that offer.....my Blaser 6.5x55 with Hensoldt vs your rifle. I would just have to ship it to him down at the AMU:p

Shall we say 1000 yards?:D I think he has a head shot in Iraq at that distance ;)

What camera are you using for shots? :D

Scope snobes are STUPID.

I used to think that to a certain degree. That is until I got some trigger time behind a NightForce. Believe me, there is a difference, a big difference. I'm not going to trash all my 300-500 dollar scopes but I am saving for a NightForce or similar quality for my 24" Grendel.

The stock is not handsome, but functionality has a beauty of its own.

I like my $300 Super Snipers, though I hate the name, and I own two of them. However, I am saving up for a real quality piece of glass. I think that I should have at least one, and since this is America, I can have both. Time and patience will get me there.

.....my Blaser 6.5x55 with Hensoldt vs your rifle

Hey WA, does this mean you will sell me a Blaser for $500 bucks? :)

WildAlaska,

Who's your buddy at the AMU? I plan to get my ass kicked at the Fort Benning All Army match next month so I might see him there.
