Looks to be a Model 62, possibly a "Gallery Rifle" based on its .22 Short chamber (which came with a special loading port to permit fast loading with special tubes). The Model 62 was introduced in 1932 and lasted until 1958. The rifle is a take-down and approximately 410,000 of them were made.
I suppose the rifle could be a Model 1890 or even a 1906-the photos aren't the clearest.

Looks like an octagon barrel which would indicate an 1890 ca 1907.

That was my first rifle.
I bought it when I was about 11 years old,,,
Paid $5.00 for it at a garage sale,,,
The magazine rod was missing.
I could only shoot it as a single-shot,,,
But man was that long barreled rifle accurate.
My father can't hit the ground with a centerfire rifle or a shotgun,,,
But he was a phenomenal shot with a .22 rifle.
I paced off a shot he made to pop a groundhog,,,
It was somewhere around 120-125 yards,,,
Called a head shot to the right eye,,,
He hit it in the left eye.
I remember he accused me of not taking care of my gun,,,
Because the sight must have been off a little bit. ;)
There was one at my LGS over a year ago,,,
It went for a bit over $1,000.00.
It should have the 1890 date on the barrel.
Nice rifle my friend,,,
Brought back a good memory.

OLDSALT, appears to be a model 1890 type 3. These were made in 4 different calibers, 22 short, 22 long, 22 long rifle, 22WRF. These guns were caliber specific, not interchangable.
