Savage has discontinued one of my favorite rifles they ever made.. the bone stock 10FP (#01063). While I do love the new accustock rifles and the 12 FVSS is still available... a part of me will always miss this discontinued rifle.

I can think of no better way to honor this rifle than a picture thread! Let's see those 10FP rifles!

Savage discontinues models and brings them back under a new guise. Way back when, my son wanted a heavy barreled rifle in 7mm magnum to use as a long-range rifle. We looked around and Savage made something called the 110 FV, for varmint, I guess. We ordered one and he found that it was a very accurate rifle, although who might want to shot varmints with a 7mm Rem Mag is beyond my comprehension. It's still in his locker and is an amazingly accurate rifle.

These days, camo sells and Savage has bowed to that fact. Evidently, everyone who wanted a 10 FP has one and so Savage put a camo stock on it and is calling it the Predator Hunter.

Of course, with Savage's easy barrel switch options, it's easy to buy an action off the used-gun rack and make it anything you want it to be. Don't bemoan the loss of the 10 FP. It'll be back in a short while, with another name.

That's too bad. Offering the model 10 in a cheap stock gave people the option to buy inexpensive, then put on whatever after-market stock they wanted.

Here's my 10FP in .308.
B&C Medalist stock too.

No pics but, my son has one also - his is in the Ultimate Varmint stock.

Aah! You're correct! I stand corrected.

The Precision Carbine is available in .308, though.

I do love the Precision Carbine accustock rifle, bought one when the first shipment arrived to my store. Very very accurate rifle!

All you need to do to get a 10/110FP is call Effie Sullivan at Savage,They will be more than happy to put one together for you.

They put a 110FLP 25/06 together for me last year, and it was discontinued 2-3 yrs ago.

When was this discontinued statement released by Savage?

There wasn't a notice from Savage that I saw. It's no longer a gun listed on their website and the shop I worked at stopped getting them.

I have a Savage 10FP in .308 in perfect factory condition, that I bought about 2 years ago. Sorry to say it has become a closet queen. I put about 100 rounds through it (Federal Match) and have to say it's on the money. At 200 yards I can cover 3 shot groups with a dime. The rifle is amazingly accurate. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I don't see myself taking it to the range anytime soon, if ever. I'm thinking it may need a new home.....:(

Looks like the 10FP is back already! It's now labled the 10FP SR and has a factory threaded barrel for flash suppressor or muzzle brake...

I just picked up a very, very lightly used 10FP in .308. It's now in a Bell & Carlson Duramaxx stock with an EGW 20 MOA rail with rings on the way. Next the scope (probably Nikon) and a Harris bipod. It looks to be one heck of a rifle. I would find it hard to believe that Savage wouldn't bring this one back in some similar form. The factory stock isn't great but it is nice to be able to switch to your own preferred stock.
