North East Hunt

looks like I will be doing a hunt in the North East, Maine Canada boarder.
Cold, very cold. 0-10 degree's F. without wind.

I need a serious camo jacket.
What do you recommend ?

Personally, I like my Cabelas Outfitter Series Fleece.

Granted I've lived in cold my whole life but I've found out that the base layer is one of the most important things. I bought some fleet farm brand stuff thats kinda like under armour. I then put on my regular shirt and pants with wool socks. then a light sweatshirt on top of my regular clothes. I then have a 4 in 1 blaze orange parka that I bought from cabelas. If the wind is blowing I use a face mask and scarf. With this I can stand up to -25 degrees F.

So get a good base layer, good boots and socks, and parka/bibs combo. You get what you pay for so I'd go with cabelas products.

This is my neck of the woods (Maine).
Are you stand hunting? or will you be moving? Dress in layers. Poly-pro, gortex and wool should be a part of the system. What about the possibility of an unscheduled night in the woods? Three or four pounds of down in the form of a sleeping bag can be a life saver.
As a general rule I want to be on the cool side (not cold) of comfortable when I am moving and then have warm outer layers to bulk up when I sit. A couple of squares of closed cell foam can help insulate your feet and butt from conduction heat loss when you are setting. Mittens are superior to gloves in extreme cold. Keep hydrated.
There are five ways you loss body heat:
Conduction: Touching something colder than you such as the ground
Convection: The wind
Radiation: Your uncovered surface areas
Respiration: from your breath
and evaporation: Sweat
Think about and manage these areas and winter hunting can be a blast.
Oh, what about back country skis or snow shoes?
There is no bad weather, but you must dress properly.
