Looks like 1941.
Is your rifle marked 30 WCF ?

You should edit your post and list your serial number like this,
1244XXX

So if my number starts with a 64 then it was made in 1964?

No records are available form 1943 - 1948.

This discrepancy is due to the fact that several areas of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company kept records of what they were doing. The main sources used for production year dating are the polishing room records, assembly records, and sales/shipping records. As you can probably imagine, keeping separate records also creates discrepancies in establishing year of production of some guns, up to several years in some cases.

This is very true. I have a US property marked Model '97 that has the underside of the barrel stamped with a "42", which was the year of manufacture. When I try dating the shotgun using the online places like oldguns.net, it comes back as being manufactured in 1948. So be very leery of their data, especially in regard to Winchesters.

Sometimes a receiver is manufactured and stamped with a SN. It may sit for years in a warehouse before being assembled into a rifle. Does not happen often, but it does happen.
