All. Some acquaintance informed me that Soviet SKS rifles after a refurb were stamped with a number 1 thru 3 on the front sight base, with a "1" designating an accurate rifle and a "3" a relatively inaccurate rifle.

Anybody here able to confirm this?

Thanks.

Don't know if it is really true or not: but: as I understood it -- 3 was average and within rifle design parameters, 2 was above average, 1 was well above average.

If it helps add to your confusion; my Tula was re-arsenaled, is quite accurate, and has nothing stamped on either sight base.
