To get an idea of the trends toward one brand of firearm over others on this board.....

Of the brands listed below, which if you have a choice of ONLY these....would you choose as your first pick in an semi-auto handgun?

The only one I've chosen so far on that list is a Walther, I own a German PPK/S. Well I do have a Beretta 921, but don't use it much anymore.

Personally were I to buy another gun it would be the same brands I already own, Ruger, CZ and Dan Wesson. None of those are on your list.

Another SW fan. Sigs would have been a consideration if the new ones weren't overpriced and overly fancy. I own many of the brands listed (Beretta, HK, SW, Springfield, Glock, Sig),

best wishes- oldandslow

I voted Sig. I have always wanted one, but never felt I could afford a $900 hand gun. I just got a w. german 228, and I fear it may be getting on to addiction status. Maybe a 226 is in my not so far future.

I voted for Browning because I didn't see FN up there.

Of course the manufacturer of the PT92 was left off the poll; so I had to choose the next best thing. I voted for the Beretta.

There are certain models from each of those that I would also like; ie a Colt 1911 or an older Smith revolver.

The only gun i own is a ruger P95. Have shot around 2000 rounds without a malfunction. Fmj, jhp, or flat nose, it doesnt matter. I would trust it with my life. Although an HK or Sig would be nice, the money seems outrageous to me. My new sr9c will be in soon and my P95 wont be lonely anymore.

Several I haven't tried.

Love the Browing Hi-Power in 9mm, but don't care for 9mm.

The HK is a great gun. Got a chance to shoot a P2000 yesterday. Function and accuracy were great; didn't care all that much for the trigger and feel in my hand.

Colts are a little heavier than I want to carry for every-day carry.

Had problems with a CZ, and also with a Springfield.

Got a bad taste for the 80's models of S&W semi-autos, so haven't tried them in over 20 years. I'll try them again, given a chance. I think my cousin owns one.

I didn't used to care much for Glocks...until I started shooting them. Shot mine side-by-side with a buddy's HK P2000 yesterday, and I still prefer the Glock for my own use. My buddy was more comfortable with the P2000, as he should be. I was more comvortable with my G23. Both shot equally well, and equally accurate for me, as well as being 100% reliable. The Glock 23 just felt better in my hand, and didn't have as much muzzle flip.

Different strokes for different folks, no doubt.

My first semi was a Glock. My favorite is a Springfield 1911 TRP. The one I carry the most is a Ruger LCP.

If I had a choice of a free semi, it would be a Colt because I don't own one but not because I think they are the best out there.

Good luck "trending" that answer.

Where is the Taurus button?

The poll said if money were no object... DUH! :D:p Whoy would you include Taurus? Maybe we should add High Point, Lorcin, and Jennings to the list too.

Kind of a meaningless poll without specific models being listed. Most of the brands listed have guns I have owned, or wanted to own, and have some that I would avoid at all costs.

If $ were no object I would choose Les Baer, but since it is I'll choose Glocks in 9mm

having owned many brands of semis and now the happy owner of many HK models; HK hands down. In my experience, HK handguns are reliable, accurate, and easy to maintain. What more could you want in a handgun?

I chose SIG, because over the years, I've had 10 with no problems. However if my new HK works as well as it looks and feels, I may have to split my vote.

Probably have to go with HK also. They seem to be the most consistant handgun manufacturer at this time. We'll se what happens with their new plant in the US.

Ed Brown's

None of my choices are on the list, especially if money wasn't a factor.

Each maker you list has a number of models, some from .22LR up through .45ACP. Hardly a defined question, unless you are searching for brand loyalty above all things. Somehow I don't think a Browning .25acp equals a Colt 1911A1 for some things.

If you come up with a question that actually has an answer, instead of leaving it to the imagination, I'll answer.

I own several of the brands on your list, and many that are not. Many different models and calibers, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. What you are asking is like asking which I like better, beer, women, or 4wheel drives?

I voted Springfield Armory.
I have had and still own a couple of Springfield 1911's. The first was a Mil-Spec that was absolutely perfect. Never a FTF or FTE in probably 10,000 rounds. Sold it to a friend that shoots it almost every week to this day. He did have a hiccup and the extractor broke but SA customer service fixed it, no problem. If money were no object, I think I'd like to have a Professional model.
