Why did ruger drop the 10 22 magnum? Was it lack of sales are was there some problem with the rifle?

My understanding is that it had some feeding issues.

Quality issues, as in most Rugers these days.

I remember reading that .22 magnums have inherit problems for semi-auto reliability. I assume the market wasn't too big either, as many fans of the 10/22 look for cheap plinking.

Maybe they'd sell more 22 mags if the ammo wasn't as much as centerfire ammo.

There's no "inherit" .22 Mag feeding problems - witness the BRNO/CZ 611/611A.
I also once had a H&K that was flawless, although admittedly expensive to acquire.
Ruger discontinued the 10/22M due to heavy/multiple warranty issues related to continued extraction difficulties, even after first adding a 2nd extractor to the bolt(s).
