Is there a way to tell if there is a round in the chamber? Is there an external indicator like there is in the Glock? If so, where?

Thank you,

Not on a P220.

Not to over-simplify but....rack the slide, check for yourself and don't trust anything or anyone else. Other than that I really don't know

This depends. Some P220's have internal extractors and some have external. I assume you have internal, otherwise it would be obvious that the extractor that would be sticking out.

If you have the internal extractor, than no, there is not an LCI.

Yeah...it's called a press check. LCI's are lawyer doodads.

I like that feature on the glocks.

Nothing quite like the manual check of the chamber...

agree with cliff, back to the basics, always loaded unless otherwise physically and visually checked.

If the firearm belongs to someone else I use the "Cliff47" method. You normally see gun salespeople do this at any gunshop, Glock or not.

If it is one of mine, I already know there is one in the pipe.

I just want to second what chris in Va already said. The press check is our friend. One of the reasons I actually like forward serrations. Once one gets used to doing press checks, LCI's kind of become irrelevant since the press check is what we should be doing anyway.

My P220 has the loaded chamber indicator on the slide by the extractor, dunno if you have an older version that wasnt implemented in yet or so. Always best to assume pistol is loaded and clear it completely to verify.

My 1911 has a LRI but I do press checks every time, and inspect. Can never be too safe.
