I picked up an "A" series Winchester 1893 pump shotgun. There are plenty of schematics out there for the 1897, but not so the 1893. This is a real one, and not the Chinese import- just to be clear. I've taken down 1897's and even Marlin 1898's (not for the faint of heart) since I was a young man, but this is my first 1893.

For those that have have taken one down, am I correct that I must drift out the block at the front bottom of the carrier in order to get the action slide out of the carrier/receiver?

Any help you can give me is appreciated.

No worries, I got it.

The pin and stop (which is one piece) does have to be drifted out to make disassembly possible.

This is one nasty piece with grease and powder! It's likely that is why it is so well preserved. :)
