I just got a Ruger 10/22 target rifle and I'm thinking about a Bushnell Banner 4-12x scope.

Anyone else have this rifle, and if you do, what scope did you choose and why?

Thanks!

Mine had a cheap Center Point 4-12x42mm mil-dot on it when I used it as my dedicated target .22lr. My Browning Buckmark Target Rifle has since taken over that role and the 10/22 now wears a BSA red-dot.

I'd skip the Bushnell Banner. Imo I'd go with a Simmons of that price range before a Banner. However, you'd be much better off to go with a Burris Fullfield II or Vortex Diamondback. Even a Nikon Prostaff would be a better choice than the Banner. Not as good as the other two mentioned, but better than the Banner.

Really doesn't matter what scope you use just make sure it has parallax adjustment either an adjustable objective or side focus. Unless you buy a rimfire scope the rifle scopes witout parallax adjustment usually have it set a 100 yards which is longer range than most people target shoot with a .22lr.

You might take a look at some of the dedicated .22lr scopes like the BSA Sweet series. I have no experience with their rimfire scopes but I did have a BSA 6-24x40AO last 16 years on my .223 before I dropped it and broke the scope. I think Cabela's markets a similar rimfire scope as well.

I plan on using this gun at 50 and 100 yards for target competition.

Funny you ask - I just dropped a Banner 4-12x on my Target 10-22 this summer. The scope tracks poorly. It was mounted on a 22-250 before and the adjustmest were a bit crude. One click may be 1/4moa or 1moa, it seems to change. It does hold a zero well and is somewhat clear for a cheap scope.

I have a Mueller 4-14x44 APV on my 10/22 glass is very clear and tracking is excellent, $114.
