T/C Encore 25-06 or 243?

Looking at a Encore pro hunter for my deer rifle this year. Have shot 308 for a long time thinking of a smaller cal. any suggestions? Also will be handloading. Thanks

I have both calibers and I'd say you'll be happy with either of them. Performance is quite similar with a bit of an edge going to the 25-06. However, the 243 is nice too because its plenty for deer hunting but can also run light varmint sized bullets. My 25-06 is my go-to gun for coyote hunting but unless I am reaching out 400+ yds, the 243 would do just as well but with less recoil.
