Hey all

lets assume you have two guns only, they are a colt delta elite 10mm and a Springfield TRP in 45 Acp.

Now you shoot them both equally well and you have plenty of ammo for both.
You have put 2500 rds thru each gun without one hiccup.
You believe without a question that either cal. is perfect for self defense.

Ok Which one would YOU chose to carry the most and why?

For carry purposes, then, wouldn't that make them ... exactly the same gun?

Silly question.

For the purposes of carry, they are essentially the same gun.

They are both 1911's.
They are both reliable.
You have lots of ammo for both.
You consider both calibers to be viable for self-defense.

Silly question.

Ditto.

I'd probably carry both, one at a time. They are both the same platform, and you could simply switch back and forth. Carrying both at the same time is really kind of silly. Carry which ever one happens to float your boat on that day.

If I had the choice of a 10mm and 45acp for a carry gun and I shot them equally well....

The 45 would spend A LOT of time IN THE SAFE.

Only until I sold it though.

What is the sound of one hand clapping?

If both guns performed exactly the same, it would come down to which gun I like more than the other.

Plenty of 10mm ammo? Makes this one a no brainer.

I'd sell one and buy something else that's better suited for carry.

I've only been carry for a little while (11 years) and I honestly don't see how some of yall carry what yall do.

Blue jeans, a good belt, and a Brommeland makes it no sweat.

I'm a huge fan of the Delta Elite

I voted on the 45, not only would the 10mm have more recoil causing you to be slower on 2nd shots, it might also look worse if you had to go to trial.

While not having a TRP, I do have a Delta Elite and a number of other Colts chambered in .45 auto.

If I am carrying a Government sized 1911, it is almost always my DE. When carrying smaller (Commander or Officer's) that is when I am carrying the .45 acp.

I live in Alaska and love the 10mm. YMMV
