You guys are free to tell me that this idea if really stupid if you wish.

While CCing the grip is the hardest thing to conceal. Its my understanding that barrel length doesn't make a big difference in accuracy, its the distance between the sights that makes the difference.

Why isn't there a gun with a full size barrel and a subcompact grip? Like a Glock 35 barrel length and a 27 or a 33 grip? Its seems to me that it would be easier to conceal while offering the advantage of greater sight distance.

Lots of companies have been making 1911s with officer frames and commander slides. I've been thinking about one too.

Just an opinion, but compacts and sub-compacts are for self defence purposes and usually the range is 20 feet or less. Since speed is the important factor and it takes longer to get a full frame pistol out, it makes sense to have a short barrel. These are not target pistols, it only takes an attacker with a knife 2 to 3 seconds to cover 20 feet, speed is important not accuracy (if you miss at that distance, you have to be shooting in the wrong direction). If you have 50 to 75 feet between you and your attacker, then take cover or get out of there. Remenber shoot for center mass aimed or off hand.

Kahr makes, or made, a line of pistols called "Covert", which were regular barrels and slides on a shortened grip frame. I always thought the ultimate covert would be a TP9 (4" barrel), cut down to a PM sized grip, (6 rounds).

How about a Kimber Compact Stainless II.
Officers frame, 4" barrel.
This one has Tritium nite sights and a Crimson Trace laser sight.
Accurate, reliable and concealable. IMHO, the best compromise of size, power and shootability.

As long as we are arguing Kimbers, I like the Eclipse Pro better.
