What do yall recommend for 9mm 1911 mags? With the .45acp I've always liked the Wilson's but the 9mm 1911 is new to me. I'm picking up a STI Ranger II tomorrow and I'm gonna need a couple more mags for it. Thanks

Wilson ETM (Elite Tactical Mag) are great in 9mm...but my favorite and what I use for IDPA are Tripp's Cobra Mag. Both hold 10 rounds. I had a follower go wonky in one of my 9 Cobra Mags and Tripp replaced it within 2 days, no questions asked. I've NEVER had one fail during shooting in thousands and thousands of rounds.

The Springfield/Leatham mags with the front pinned instead of the rear, and the integral feed ramp. They are absolutely the best choice out there.

I've had very good results using Metalform mags.
I've used both Metalform 9mm and 38 super mags to feed 9mm 1911 guns with excellent results.
The gun in the above picture was test fired with five different brands of factory JHP and FMJ ammo using 9mm and 38super Metalform mags, no failures of any kind.

The best 9mm 1911 mags are Tripp Power Mags IMHO.

I have several and they are the only ones I will buy now.

After trying quite a variety of mags in my various 9mm 1911s, I took the advice of a good and knowledgeable buddy and purchased 9-round Metalform .38 super mags (rounded follower) and solved all my reliability problems.

Wilson mags in 9mm have only been on the market for a year or so ....but they're holding up real well for me / on the plus side, they're 10rd mags.

MetalForm, I think are junk ...I had 4 of 6 - break off the base plates and scatter spring, follower and rounds everywhere all over the range "when I seated them "firmly" .....so I tossed them out .....

I've also had pretty good luck with Springfield mags .....but they are 9 rd mags.

Nighthawk Custom is now including Check-Mate Industries mags with all of their 9mm pistols. I'm using nothing but Check-Mates in my .45s now, and if the 9s are as good - no reason to think they're not - I'd go there.

I use the TRIPP Cobra's in my STI Spartan 9mm and I have had absolutly no problems with the first 600 or so rds thru it....

Although I know what you mean ;), it suggests that Nighthawk would avoid the best mag available if it were from Wilson. A shooting buddy of mine is a Nighthawk rep, and he introduced Nighthawk to Check-Mate after conducting his own tests. Check-Mates ran the best - perfect, to date - in the 9mm Nighthawks he and his wife use.

I replaced my mags with Chip McCormick's and they function just fine.
