I have wanted a 1911 for quite some time. Yesterday my wife(Barbicatter) bailed from work a little early and met at the gun store- in case I needed help choosing. I ended up getting the stainless loaded Springfield. I almoooooost got the stainless GI, but she convinced me to get the loaded instead.
After a good cleaning and much fondling, I finally got to the range today to try it out. The gun is a pleasure to shoot :D. I shot mostly federal 230gr FMJ and a few 200gr Hornady JHP. All rounds cycled smoothly- no problems to report.
Also, I picked up a inexpensive OWB holster to tide me over until I can order a custom one.

That looks sweet. I like how the writing on the side is low-key.

Best to spend the tax return before the kenyan decides to steal it back again.

now when you say you went to the range after a good cleaning and much fondling, are you talking about the 1911 or your dear wife??? sorry, just had to ask. :D btw, great choice. love the selection.

Hallelujah, another sees the light.:D Congrats, you sure joined the 1911 brotherhood in style. That is one fine looking specimen and you'll now know the reason the 1911 receives so much praise. I've owned and shot a boatload of guns, but I always find myself gravitating back to the 1911.

Congrats, but be advised, they are addictive. It is also a well known fact, that if you lock 2 1911s in the same safe they will multiply!;) I started with 2, and last time I opened the safe...they had 11 "kids".:p

I must admit that I do like these grips. I had been shopping around for grips before I even bought the gun and saw some really cool diamond back and prairie rattler grips. I guesss I'll keep the ones that came on it for now- they have grown on me.

http://www.smileys.it/images/smileys_it_192.gif I think there will be a shopping race, because HC is law.

J.T., you and Barbicatter both have excellent taste in pistols. I am glad to see you choose the Loaded SS over the GI. You won't be dissappointed. If this is your first 1911, it won't be your last!

Thanks.
I picked up an 8 rnd Wilson C. mag for it today, but have not tested it yet. Wife is now in the process of deciding that she needs a full sized 1911. O well, if she gets one at least it will fit in my holster.:D

I recently purchased a few 8rd Chip McCormick magazines (http://www.cmctactical.com/product_48_detailed.htm) fo9r use in my SA Loaded. Having used them this weekend for the first time I can report they work as well or better than the factory magazines in this pistol. These are the Classic (read basic) magazines, I haven't tired the higher end "Match Grade" or "Power Mags". They now have "Power Mag Plus" for those wishing to spend $$.

Having success with these magazines, I made another purchase of 2 Power Mags which I plan to leave full of JHP's in my nightstand.
