View Full Version : Thoughts on the CZ-75B in stainless

I already own a CZ P-01 and a CZ P-07 Duty. The P-01 (excellent pistol) I bought a few years ago and that is a keeper for sure (accurate, great carry weapon, love the feel of it in my hand). The P-07 Duty I bought maybe a year ago, but I'm not sure I really into it that much (both how it looks and how it feels, it is pretty accurate though). My P-01 does everything it does but better. I'm thinking of selling or trading in the P-07 Duty towards getting a CZ 75B in stainless. I hear very good thing about the full-size CZ 75B line-up and I really like the looks of the 75B in stainless. Do most of you 75B owners out there, prefer the stainless or the black or nickel finishes? Also, is the stainless model a little more heavier than the black and/or nickel finished ones? Any negative things about the stainless 75B that I should be aware of? Thanks in advance.:)

There are three types of stainless finish, but I only like the dullest, matte finish, myself. (I prefer the satin nickel finish.) I would expect the stainless to be the most trouble free. The nickel finish has to be cleaned a bit, from time to time.

I think the stainless models have a couple of features the older models don't have, such as a ambi-safeties and reversible mag releases. (It's been a while since I've seen one, so I'm not sure about the ambi-safety.)

I'd be looking at an SP-01, if I already had a 75B. (The P-07 would require all new holsters.)

I don't like shiny guns so I have a blued CZ75B. A great piece of machinery.

All else being equal stainless steel is 1.01 heavier than carbon steel In other words, if a gun weighs 2 lbs in steel it would weigh 2.02 lbs in stainless if no other changes were made. Pretty insignificant.

I own a 75B in the bog-standard black polycoat finish, and that's the way I like it. Not that I don't particularly like stainless finishes, but CZ seems to use it as an excuse to jack up the price. Besides, that black stuff seems pretty tough to scratch.

The Polycoat finish (black) is very tough. And if it ever gets scratched, you can touch it up with matte black auto touchup paint. (Dupli-Color brand is a perfect match, but most matte blacks are close.)

You can get a spray can, spray some onto a piece of aluminum foil, then use a small fine-point model brush and fill most scratches, and it'll be almost invisible.

I'd love to have one of the polished stainless. There's one up at my local gun store, been there for over a year hiding in a corner. They're incredibly rare, as CZ switched to the matte finish soon after it came out.

Stainless is OK, but I find two-tone to be the most visually appealing

Thanks for all the info and pics everyone.

czf, looks great with the laser grips on.

herbie1, the Stainless Limited sure is sweet looking.

Webleymkv, Pretty sharp two-tone CZ-75B. It kinda of reminds me of my BHP Practical two-tone.

I absolutely LOVE my cz-75B!! of course, mine is the basic Blued model, but i'm more than happy with that. Definately gotta give a thumbs up on the hogue grips for the B, they compliment the already awesome grip angle.

I've never seen the polished stainless CZ - just saw one and I want one!!!

The polished model costs about $50 more than the matte finish stainless model. But I agree that it is the model to get. It is well worth spending the additional $50, in my opinion. This is one sexy pistol!!

Sadly, though, these guns are in very short supply. They are extremely difficult to locate for sale.

Note:

Installation of the Crimson Trace laser on the CZ 75 stainless requires removal of the right safety lever. CZ's custom shop will do this for anyone.

Both the stainless limited and stainless matte models look like junk compared to the stainless polished above. Only advantage the stainless limited has is that it ships with night sights on it straight from the factory.

You actually saw one and passed on it?

Here is a photo of a stainless CZ75 B that illustrates the right safety lever having been removed, in order to accommodate the Crimson Trace Laser Grip:

At this point I'm not even sure what a reasonable price would be for one.

I took out my CZ P-07 Duty out of the safe this morning, held it and looked it over, now I'm having second thoughts of selling/trading it in. I really want the stainless 75B though. My wife will kill me if I get another firearm right now, without getting rid of another first, especially since I recently bought a NIB Beretta Inox 92FS from Buds Gunshop. Looks like I might wait about 6-8 months or so before getting the CZ 75B, that way I also end up keeping all my current firearms:D.;)

Thoughts on the CZ-75B in stainless

Great gun all around. Great looking, reliable, and well built.

This isn't my gun, but I found this pic in another thread. Just a classy looking pistol.

Wow...I own several CZ75s, but no stainless ones. I kinda like the look of those!

I have a 75B in polished stainless. It's a great pistol. I just did a little ad hoc comparison to a Glock 26 (I know, not really comparable pistols, but it is what it is) in a new blog I just started.

Here's my 75B after 100 rounds at around 8 or 9 yards.

I'm just back from range after giving my CZ75 to a girlfriend and getting myself a G17 for shooting and occasional carry.
Pros: my future wife likes pistols more than jewelry.
Cons: I like to carry G17, and will certainly use it to get more experience with it, but I love to shoot CZ75 and miss it a lot.

Looks like I will have to get myself another CZ75 :D and I'm seriously thinking about stainless, since I like shiny guns (better visible in lowlight situation and thus better chance to scare the bad guys away without shooting).

Is there somebody who carries stainless CZ75 daily in an IWB holster and can tell me if the finish can withstand the sweat?
