Was at Cabelas today looking at the Mark 4 scopes 4.5-14X50 for $1199 when I noticed a Mark 4 with 8.5-25X50 with illuminated reticle was also $1199. I asked one of the guys and he said that it was on clearance for some reason, but did not know why. It was still in the original box with original unopened plastic. He said that it originally goes for $1600 so I bought it on an impulse for $1199. Do you guys think that it was a good deal? Thanks

Good deal.... if it's what you wanted. That's an awful lot of magnification for most things. But, if it fits your need, the price is very good.

The illuminated TMR is a good reticule. I would say that you got a great deal on that scope.

Was looking to get 5-20X50 or 6-24X50, but when I saw that for the same price, I could not resist myself. I am not very lucky at running across really good deals, but I feel like that was one of those deals not to walk away from and they only had that one.

One thing I learned long ago was to never ask anyones opinion on whether I got a good deal or not. It sounds like you're not sure about your purchase and some uneducated foolio coming in here telling you that you got ripped would likely blend well with any underlying buyers remorse you may be experiencing. Since you asked, I'd say you got a heck of a deal on a top tier scope, don't second guess yourself. Throw that bad momma on and give her a go, if it isn't what you were looking for, sell it for a profit and go another route.

Enough said, thanks for all your input.

I have one without illumination on my F-T/R 1000 yard rifle and it works just fine.
