I bought my first handgun about a week or so ago. I got a Sig p226 with night sites, light/red dot combo , and nitron finish. I also found a good deal on some equinox grips and had to pick them up ;) . Anyhow here is a picture of my gun and some pics of the target from 15 yards (not using the red dot ).

Seemed to shoot a little low and to the left...
No problems with jamming or anything of that sort...
Kick seemed reasonable (never had anything else to compare it to...)

You are off to a good start, keep up the practice and be safe. Remember, gun control is being able to hit your target.:D

Going to make PBP sick...hehe:D

P.S. Great first handgun. Low and left is a trigger issue.

Good choice for a first handgun. That is a nice looking Sig.

What Beentown said. Dry fire practice, "often". Nice gun!

Very nice first handgun! Nice light to go with it too. :) How many yards out were you with that group?

At 15 yards that is very good shooting for a new handgunner!!

The "low and left" thing is very common and it's not the gun, it's you. ;) You're anticipating the recoil right as the gun is going off and you're dipping the muzzle down and to the left.
Don't believe me? Have a friend mix a dummy round (Snap Cap) into your magazine while your back is turned, then proceed to blast away. You'll see what I'm talking about when you squeeze the trigger on that round. :D That, by the way, is one of the best ways to train yourself out of the bad habit!

GORGEOUS gun, by the way. Enjoy it.

Very good choice for a first. I really like the grip choice also. I too had pretty good groups right out of the box. If that is the first, what will the second be? Good shootin'.

The p226 is a great choice. I don't own a Sig (yet). And as others have also said, that's very good shooting for a new shooter at 15+yds. New shooters have the advantage in that they haven't learned all the bad habits. :-)

I ask that you to become active in supporting our 2nd amendment rights. There are many ways to do that. Pick one you are comfortable with and do it.

Also, please do what you can to support our wounded soldiers and law enforcement officers. We civilians can buy guns, have a fun time at the range, and protect our families because of sacrifices these folks make everyday.

OK, enough preaching... post more photos if the 226 :-)
