I have an oppertunity to buy a Colt Double Eagle, 45acp, with 4 clips,
i't is in exelant condition.

I would like to know what it is worth and if there is any problems with it I should be aware of.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

If something breaks, it might be difficult to get replacement parts. While the DE has a bad reputation, it appears to be based almost exclusively on generally negative reviews from almost twenty years ago. When someone inquires about them, those who actually own and shoot them, as opposed to those who read the gunrag articles way back when, like the gun. One thing that I do see is a disparity in what sellers think they're worth - rare collectible - and what buyers are willing to pay. I tracked the asking prices and bidding amounts on .40 DE Commanders (one of the rarer DE variants) for a while on gunbroker and auctionarms, and while buyers rarely ever bid more than $550, sellers often wanted $700 or more.
