Looking for some help from you gun whizzes.....

I'm brand spankin' new to the AR game as I just traded for a S&W M&P 15 ORC from a buddy. This is the model Smith makes that is MA, NJ, NY compliant etc. However, I'm a resident of KY so those crazy rules don't apply. Love everything about the rifle as far as looks except that goofy pseudo stock. My question is.......

How do I go about changing this stock out for one that is telescopic. I've read that the buffer tube on this model is longer than a typical AR featuring an adjustable stock. Is it even possible with the current tube or do I need to purchase a whole new tube and stock? What tools would I need if this is possible?

Thanks in Advance.

Tele-stock wrench is the only tool needed.
You can get a solid stock and buttlate and some screws or an entire m4 telestock.
go to brownells sight and watch ar15 build video.
They have a video just for telestocks.

I look forward to fixing her up and getting some shots down range.

Take care.

You're going to need a whole new tube (receiver extension) at the least.

If the fixed "tele-stock" that your gun came with, uses a rifle length buffer and spring, then you're going to have to add a carbine length spring and your choice of buffer (carbine, H, H1, H2, etc) to the list.
