Rem 700 Action

Does anyone sell Remington 700 actions by themselves? I would like to build a rifle myself and I am looking for a R700 short action in .308.

Also, are there any other makers out there that make and sell good actions by themselves? Preferably something that isn't a super expensive custom job.

And if anyone here has made their own rifle I would love to hear how you did it and what you used for it.
