I am in the process of putting some funds together to buy a CA legal AR15. I was wondering if anyone had an idea on what I should get. I know that I want the 5.56 caliber but am at a loss for what manufacture is best. I like the Ruger SRS 556 but I have heard that there are beter AR15's out there. A few people have been saying that Kaiser Defence is a beter option. Any ideas?

You should get a hold of the "Ban" list. There are some manufacturers that are not on the list, and you'll have more options available with those guys. I think CMMG is one of the companies that are not on the list. There are more, their name just comes to mind. Do some Research over at AR15.com. They have a specific forum called Hometown forum, and in that section it's divided up by States. Find the California section, and do some more research there.

Be sure and come back here with some ideas, and review a few options with us. AR15.com is a good place to get some ideas, but some of the guys can be a little rough with the new kids on the block.

AFAIK, the Ruger SR-556 is most likely not legal in CA. It's certainly not legal in CT!

Anyway, have a look at the following PDF from calguns.net:

CA Assault Weapons Flow Chart (http://www.calguns.net/caawid/flowchart.pdf)

Surfin' around on calguns.net or calgunlaws.com is also advised.

Good luck,
