Was reading a post about the "Marlin jam" and thought of something to pass on that might help someone. I have "fixed" an awful lot of jammed Marlins by tightening the loading gate screw. Seems that it's pretty common for that screw to loosen slightly and let the gate spring back a little. You can't see it but it will lock the action open and drive you nutz. Here endeth the lesson.
