I'm looking at a taurus pt 145 millinnium. What I have been told is they are decent guns, and their quality has become better, but I have no experinece with Taurus. I tried glock, xd and M&P compacts also and the taurus felt the best in my hand. Any one who has firsthand experince with taurus auto pistols please let me know what you think.

Search is your friend

Seriously though-the newest itterations of the 145 are better than they used to be by all accounts...

Don't let the Taurus bashers get to you. I have a PT92 I bought about 20 years age and carried for several years as a LEO. It out performed all the S&W 9mm I've owned and feed all types of ammo. I just bought a 24/7 PRO in 45 acp that is more accurate then my RIA 1911. It feeds everything I've tried from SWC target ammo to JHP personal defense ammo. The 1911 only likes ball ammo even after polishing the feed ramp.

Back in the 80's Taurus made some really poor quality S&W revolver knockoffs but today Taurus makes good guns, especially for the price. You can get a lemon from any manufacturer. Over the years, I've had bad S&W, Colt, Ruger, Marlin, Remington and a new Mauser (Luger) 9mm the fired 2 to 3 shot bursts every time you pulled the trigger.

Edit: If you can, get the PRO model that has the DA/SA trigger with decocker.

Agreed-I have three Taurus products, and I'm happy with them...guess I should've put that down before

PT 99AF (pre-decocker)
PT 24/7 Pro .40S&W
PT 111 Millenium (Pre-Pro)

i bought a pt 145 mill pro at a gun show in 06.
two problems, every third round or so would chimney stack, constantly it would fail to close the slide.
also dissassembly was impossible.
3 strikes and your out
this was a NEW gun.
finally traded it in on a para 1911.
this is the gun i hope the bad guy brings.
