Latest on Nighthawk Problems?

I saw a long thread from a couple years ago about problems with Nighthawk's Perma-kote finish, and some opinions that Nighthawk's overall quality had taken a turn for the worse.

Anyone have recent updates on these issues? Was it just a bad batch of Perma-kote and all is well now? Is the quality still up there with Ed Brown and the like?

I got my NHC in 2006. The Perma-Kote would chip if you looked at it. Terrible finish...

Mine has since been treated with Melonite...

After seeing some pics of the dogs Nighthawk has put out I doubt I would ever buy one. They must know what they are doing though or Richard Heinie and Larry Vickers wouldn't have had them do signature models.
