I have to look at a Norinco SKS this afternoon. It's stock, except for a Ram-Line folding stock. Pretty nice condition (for an SKS). Wondering what it's worth on todays market. I know I can get it bought right, just wondering what current value is. I havent seen a Norinco change hands for a long time, and the Fiejsteads dosent account for the current market.

Thanks
Andy

$400 for a Norinco is quite expensive. I bought a Norinco last July at the Kittery Trading Post for $185.

You didn't buy a Norinco for that, surely? I have two, and they haven't been under $350 since Brady II.

At the stores in the Detroit area they are around 300 give or take. At the local shows they are 375 and up. All used of course. A buddy of mine just bought a real nice looking one for 295.

honest to god $185, used, not new if thats what your thinking. But it was in decent shape. Got it at the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, ME last july. I still see plenty of used ones for under $300 now, local shop had an unfired yugo for $295 a month ago. I'm sure somebody grabbed it up though. But personally, I would never spend more than $300 for an sks, but with all of the hype, if you like it and you want it, go ahead and get it.

Just paid a $299 at a shop for an all matching Norinco Factory 296 Triangle-26 1959 SKS in excellent condition.

got mine about 8 months ago, unfired, great condition for 240 after tax. Norinco with spike bayonet. Ammo is still insane though.

Some very good-looking Russians have been listed at about $425 at gun shows in the Mid-South.

Though having only seen the outside areas, why pay a similar price for a Norinco?

Come and take it.

Why can we still import guns from Europe and Russian but not China?

I endured the Clinton era but I never could fully understand the matter.

Check out the SKS Survivors forum website.
I believe Ignition is correct. The $400 and up price range should be able to get you a Russian in most localities, if you shop around. Of course, in my area the gunshops are charging $350-400 for beat up Yugos.

Wow. I paid $215.00 for a Yugo (with bayonet and greande launcher, of course), not more than three years ago. I like it, but it's not worth much more than that.

Course, I remember when the Norincos were going for $75.00 with all the goodies....

Ridiculous. $400 for an SKS.

How many people are willing to pay that high of price when you can - or at least used to be able to - buy an AR-clone or a Ruger Mini-14 for a few hundred more.

This may turn into the world's most expensive SKS! The seller also has an '05 Chevy 2500 HD Crew Cab for sale. If I buy the truck, he'll throw in the rifle. I really need a different truck, and the price is great!
HMMMMMMMMM!

Doc TH:
Those two very good or excellent Russian SKS had been on a guy's table at two gun shows this winter/spring in Memphis, but I never went to those over in Jackson or down in Southaven.

They were the only SKS seen by me which did not have visibly worn metal and wood, at any shows here since last August. If the internal conditions were as good as the external, somebody missed some comparatively good buys (this really surprised me), but again, there were numerous shows and little proportionate buying during the last of them.

Maybe not only SKS, but also "AK" and Saiga sales slowed due to the very scarce Russian x39 and .223 ammo? The x39 has returned, and this began weeks ago when I saw it in two small central TN gun stores.
If this situation is not the case, feel free to contradict my impressions. Am here to learn.

Oddly enough, 7.62X39 never dissapeared here.
Everything else....but not x39. It has always ben in stock at the Wal-Hell locally. Wish I could say the same for .22RF.

Was in a local gun store today. They had several Yugo's in reasonably good condition. They were asking $465. I haven't seen any Russian SKS' in this metropolitan area in stores or at shows for some time. The supply dried up some time ago - as with the Chinese versions - and it seems as if owners are not quick tp part with them at the present time.
