**This topic is not intended to be a war/debate of ideologies, brand loyalties, caliber loyalties, ballistic evidence, gelatin pictures, etc., rather a discussion for those that own or have experience with the 357SIG round.**

My first exposure to the 357SIG round came through a trade. A good friend had wanted to acquire one of my Beretta pistols that I had tuned up for IDPA competition. At that time a had a few too many Berettas in house and too many that I was working on as an armorer. Having mostly shot 9mm / 45, I thought the trade would be good to have something different in the inventory. Being a fan of the Sig 22X platform, it was not difficult when he offered up a 229.

After receiving it, I put it through the paces and was quite fond of the round and the P229, however life & the sandbox required me to return back to the 9mm & 45 round.

Fast forward a few years to April 2009. I was fortunate enough to receive 500rds of 357SIG in Winchester SXT 125gr. Took the opportunity to use them [100 rds] well at old indoor local range and I was impressed with overall experience. I ran a few drills from 3 to 10 yards, 1+1s, 1+2s, strong/weak hand, etc. The P229 kept the 357SIG round in check. On the final of two 3 round Mozambique Drill strings, I was able to achieve .47 secs total from the ready position.

Having shot more than 90% of the 9mm round, as compared to other calibers over the past decade, the experience was somewhat of an epiphany. Almost like seeing an old friend again. Considering how much I normally shoot, the 357SIG SXTs may be done quite soon.:)

Had to put a 3x5 card up to cover up a hole.
