Actually, he died a few days ago. I didn't know the man, but those who did thought the world of him. He is sorely missed in those circles.

I knew him only through is writing, which I admired and sought out. I am truely sorry to hear of his passing.

Finn Aagard's stories are my link to the people who can actually go to Africa to live the hunts I dream of. His writing is still alive!
But it's still depressing that the man is dead. :(

Sorry to hear that Mr. Aagard is gone. I remember his writing that while in Africa during the Mau Mau terror he slept with a Triple Lock under his pillow. That was surely gun ownership on the most fundamental level imaginable.

Finn Aagards passing will diminish us all.
One could go on, at greater length. Suffice it to say that his contributions will remain, and that they will outlive the man, who in the end turns out to have contributed things of value.

Look up your old issues of American Rifleman.
He used to write for that fine publication on a regular basis.
He will be missed.

This saddens me deeply.
Aagaard was one of the true greats of outdoor writing. Up there with Keith, O'Connor, Capstick, A.J. McClane...
One more of the legends gone...

Mr. Aagaard's passing is truely a loss. I would like, however, to offer this quote from Gen. Patton on the occasion of another loss: "We should not be sad that such men died. We should be glad that such men lived."

Fudge, that's rotten news.
I met Finn when he was Field Editor for American Rifleman and I was Associate Editor. We also spoke on the phone occassionally.
I had the privledge of editing a number of his articles on firearms and his reminiscences on his African days. I always LOVED getting a packet in the mail from him. I would be guaranteed an afternoon of interesting reading.
Hell of a nice guy... :(
