Of course, they wouldn't let me buy ammo at the same time as the gun. I was walked to the door with the gun held by a manager, and told not to come back in the store (I guess for the day).

It came with a cheapie silver 4x20 scope which I promptly took off.

I like the rifle! I had a standard one and sold it but wish hadn't. They are accurate and fun rifles. A great price for what you get. :D

Were they rude to you when they said don't come back?
I stopped buying from Walmart after a similar experience. I had a manager tell me that they shouldn't even be allowed to sell guns much less sell them to kids like me( I was 18 at the time). I wrote a letter but never received anything back. Hope they had better customer service than I received. Have fun and be safe.

No, they weren't rude. I actually chatted a bit with the clerk who sold the rifle to me, and the manager who walked me out. They were just following the general manager's policies I suppose.

Even if they weren't being rude, that's still pretty rude. And pretty dumb and pointless, too. But that's my opinion, and no one asked for it so I'll move on. :)

I've actually considered trading in my old Marlin 60 for a SS model. You'll have to be sure to let us know how you like it! Well, I doubt I would trade it in, more like retire it.

Had one in my hands about a month ago and should have bought it. Went back a few days later and it was gone.
Good looking rifle- much more so than the standard model.

Get one of those tube mag speedloaders. It's a tube holding 8 stacks of I believe 15 rounds each, like 20 bucks from Cheaper than Dirt. I've used my dad's 60 alot, actually a (different) Marlin 60 was my first gun. Been thinking a 70 Papoose might make a wise investment, something to keep broken down in the trunk

Not that it would have made any difference today. My Wal-Mart has ZERO .22 ammo in stock today.

I had one and sold it, too. Big mistake.

Now I have to put ANOTHER gun on my list. :D

I hate how walmart does that crap with the "no guns and ammo sold together" thing. I wonder what they would do if you bought the ammo and THEN tried to get the gun like 1hr later?
I've bought them both at the same time before, though, without question. I got a Rem 700 30-06 and few boxes of Rem Core-Lokt ammo when they had a $10 off promotion. The rifle was being discontinued in the store and I got it for $300. Not bad. Almost got the 270, too.

When I bought my Marlin 60 from Walmart about two weeks ago, I bought 1,100 rounds of ammo along with it. No problem here in Norman, Okla. Interesting to hear, though.

Now go rock that bad chicken!

Enjoy!

I just purchased a Marlin 60 a couple of weeks ago and had a great time shooting it my first time out.

Unfortunately I can't identify with your Walmart experience since they don't sell firearms at any of their stories in my area of the People's Republic of New York.

They all do that, even some gun stores. As for ammo, just go down the street to the next Walmart and buy ammo, after all, they are on every corner these days.
