New Marlin XL7 with Nikon Prostaff

Hey guys,i am new to the forum and just got back into shooting.I have an xl7 30-06 on order an it should get here on friday of next week.I will mostly be using it to kill paper at 100 yards,but might want to go hunting some day.I went to wally world and picked up a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x 40 for $140 and i looked through the Leupold rifleman side by side with it and chose the Nikon.What range is this scope good for?I know at 100 yards it is excelent but what about 200-400 yards.Thanks for your input.

Welcome to TFL! Your 3X9 Nikon Prostaff will be effective in terms of range as far as your 30-06 can shoot effectively. The Prostaff is a very nice scope, comparable, imo, to scopes selling for much more money.

I have that scope with the BDC, awesome scope! Its good as far as your -06 will shoot.
