Congrats on the new purchase! I like the stock that came with yours. All the SPS's around here come with green stocks.

I bought one myself, last month.

Its wearing a 8-32x40 Bushnell Elite 4200. With cheap 7.62 ammo, I get 1.5" 5 shot groups with 100, and I epect them to tighten up alot with handloads.

i was initially leaning towards green myself, but chose to go with this one.
did yours come with the x-mark trigger?? if so, does it work well for ya??
you made a nice choice BTW, i think it looks good.

i have a few boxes of Winchester 147 gr fmj to test with at the 400 yd range sometime soon

I've got a Bushnell 8-32x40 mounted on my Savage 12. It is a good scope but if I had it to do over again I would get the 6-24 instead. The 8-32 has 1/8 MOA clicks and it really limits the available adjustment range.

Enjoy that rifle, good choice, you can't go wrong with a Remington:)

Very true. in order to get enough adjustment out of mine, I shimmed it for elevation, and used windage-adjustable rings. I'd rather have a 1/4" click scope. I dont shoot well enough to really make use of a 1/8"

Gotta love those NIB, 700 SPS's with the new gun smell. Ours was born a .223 SPS Varmint and at less than a year old is already asking for a .308 sibling. ;) Congrats on the new addition.

Remington's plastic stocks aren't terrible, they're actually fairly comfortable, but that action is just begging for a nice aluminum bedding block.

Excellent choise. I've had one for a couple years. I mounted it in a bell & carlson aluminum bedded stock and added a swfa super sniper scope to it. I tweeked the trigger to 2 1/2 lbs and it is a tack driver. Shooting 168 gr bthp match bullets with 43 gr of varget. The best shooting rifle I've got and under $1000.00 into it. A true bargain.

cool...can you post a pic of it???

does anyone have suggestions or tips on barrel break-in??

i'll have the scope mount ordered today. borrow the scope and bipod off another rifle for the time being. and it will be ready for the range
