are there any rifles that can fire both .22LR and .22mag? i was wondering because while i want to get my first gun, a 22LR i was curious if there was a dual caliber so i have the option of a higher power round? thanks.sorry if this is a noob question. dont know much about guns. wanna learn though.

The .22 Magnum cartridge is wider than the .22LR, so a firearm that would accept both in the same chamber would be a bit of an impossibility. It's not like .357 Magnum/.38 Special, where the only difference is length. I think there's a revolver or two out there with swappable cylinders, though.

Yeah, there's a lot of revolvers with swappable cylinders, many of the old style single action ones. Trying to think of one right off hand, but I'm too tired, someone else hopefully will. I know they are out there.

Ruger makes a single action revolver with swappable cylinder. Model Single Six Maybe?

i was just hoping there would be a rifle that could use .22LR and something else of higher power, so once i get used to the .22 i dont have to buy a whole new gun fo rmore power

the 22mag is longer and wider.actually the 22 mag is a 22 win upgraded and 22 shot in a mag are not that accurate.

The Ruger Single Six revolver is available with both cylinders. As for rifles, you're out of luck. If I were to own one .22 rifle it would probably be in .22LR. Less expensive to shoot and virtually every manufacturer that's has been, or ever will be produces them. I do enjoy my .22 magnums, but the smaller .22LR is much cheaper to shoot. Get one of each. Plink with one and hunt small furry critters with the other. I own 7 rimfires not counting my pistols. They are worth every penny you'll spend if you get a decent gun to begin with.
