Left mag makes my bolt lock back when i try to chamber a round. Middle mag doesn't even lock into the mini. The one on the right is perfect and a 20 round ruger factory mag.

Left to right, Factory 20 , no name 30 that doesnt even lock into the gun, and the one that makes my bolt lock back with ammo in it.

You can try filing on 'em or tweaking the feed lips, but the only real fix if you want 100% reliable magazines in a Mini-14 (Or just about any gun, for that matter) is to toss that aftermarket crap and buy factory original mags.

The metal on those no-names is too thin & soft to hold shape.
Not much can be done with them. I once tried welding them up and adjusting them, the lips are the weakest link.

That's the nature and down fall of the Mini-14 (I can deal with the accuracy issue). I've tried them all and the only mags I've got left for my Mini are the factory mags....I've tossed all the others.

Other than factory Ruger mags, the only ones I have found suitable for anything but plinking, are the older PMI magazines.

For those who may not have read about it, Ruger is offering its 20 round Mini-14 magazines on sale ($29.95) until some time in January.

There are 3 mags that will work in a mini-14. From my efforts to find reliable mags I have found that anything other than the listed (3) mags are not worth messing with.

Mags that work:

Ruger Factory
PMI (Precision Mag Industries)
Thermold (Thermold that say Thermold and not a look-a-like)

I have heard that some mags are loose at the point of where it locks in. The straight edge where the release clicks into. They can be welded up and filed down to fit and that should cure the problem. Just check if they are slightly loose after they click in.

As for the feed lips, just compare to an original virgin Ruger---------can't get any better IMO.

Hope this helps
