So i think there might be a problem with my Smith Wesson 469

Just got a 469 smith in trade. But i have noticed after removing and reinstalling the grips, the hammer will now drop only on the half cock notch... i have done a few more dry firings to see if the hammer would fall all the way down.. it did only twice out of 20 or so pulls. Is this normal or is there something wrong with the gun? And if so what is it so i know what needs to be replaced....

On some of the older model 39s & 59s the hammer/firing pin operated on an inertia striking effect ( Cue Ball effect ). The test was to verify that the Chamber was empty, the magazine is empty, though inserted in the magazine well. Drop a Pencil, eraser end first into the barrel. Cock the hammer, point barrel straight up toward ceiling and pull trigger. The pencil should launch, in most cases right out of the barrel. Just an idea.
