I hadn't until today:

I don't know why but I think the P7 actually pulls it off. I wouldn't be ashamed to own it; I just wouldn't want to have to pay to have it done. :p

It would be cool for a retirement gift or something with some engraving of the dates and name, etc.

personally I like subtle finishes. but if someone gave me one I wouldn't turn it down...might sell it, but I wouldn't turn it down.

I bet when it is squeeze cocked a couple time the gold plate will wear.

That is a very beautiful handgun but I would be afraid to scratch that finish.

It would be in a display case and never fired.

Ergo,it would have to be a gift or inheritance,I would never spend that kind of money on it.

Sure looks great though.

Ironically, the squeeze cocker mechanism on ONLY THIS GUN is known for wearing off very shiny finishes.

Each to their own, but . . . I don't like it.

I have. My S+W 39-2 I kind of wish I still had. It was very accurate. Low capacity(8+1) but it was nice. Kind of like a cousin of the 1911 in 9mm.

I read your title and I was going to say I saw that exact same P7 on gunbroker tonight.;)

Sure I have!
I think the HK is probably TiNi coated. It would be hard to wear that off!
Check this one out!

I like firearms as tools and only a beautiful Beretta shotgun from the 1960s that my dear father-in-law gave me has any real shine to it. Gold guns? Maybe The Golden Gun from said Bond film when I was a kid!

Nope. Don't like those handguns or rifles with gold accented controls, either.

I don't know why but I think the P7 actually pulls it off.

Probably because the grip panels cover so much of the gun that it still fundamentally looks like a black gun with a lot of gold trim (as opposed to a gold gun with some black trim).

That said, I find gold guns gaudy - this is no exception

I wouldn't want to actually shoot a gun like that, but I think it would make an impressive display piece. :D

Personally I find gold plated guns to be cheesy looking. But this one is a cool concept . I wouldn't own it , but it's unique.

Best one I saw was a Desert Eagle with some kind of paint-on gold finish... and by best, I mean worst. :barf:

Saddam Hussein had some gold plated AK's that looked pretty cool, in a gansta' rapper kind of way. I just found a gold plated Cobray M11 w/suppressor for sale here:

Welcome to this episode of "Pimp My Pistol."

This would be the only gold pistol I would ever own; and you can order it from the factory like this:

It's useless for about everything a pistol normally does anyway; why not make it look like a gaudy ghetto-fied nightmare while I'm at it?

needs some new grips to polish it off right...some nice wood ones.

It looks like a cap or airsoft gun, or perhaps a lighter.

I don't really care much for gold plated guns. Gold plating isn't terribly durable, so it dooms the firearm to life as a display piece.

I don't have enough money to buy guns I can't shoot.

That tiger striped Desert Eagle would look much better if a hot babe in zebra stipes were holding it!

I think gold plating is a very expensive and complicated way to ruin a firearm.

To be put simply, no. It's not anything specific to guns though, I just don't like yellow gold. I do not care, however, for guns of any finish that are shiny and look like they've just been waxed and polished.

Expensive? Absolutely. I'm not sure about complicated. It's my understanding that gold plating is done via basic electroplating. If someone has more knowledge feel free to chime in.

Regular gold plating is done by electroplating, and it's a reasonably simple process. The plating solution is expensive, as is the metal prep. Gold plating is very soft, and doesn't wear well.
The guns pictured (except mine) are titanium nitride coated. TiNi is expensive, but it wears better than hard chrome.
