Any Glock 30 owners here? I'm torn between a G21 and G30 as my next carry piece. How small is the 30? I used to own a G26 but sold it because it was too small for my hands. Is the 30 any bigger than the 26? I own a 19 that feels good in my hand. Can anyone post a picture of a G30 and G19 side by side?

Thanks
Dave

From having handled them before, I'd say the G-30 is closer to the G-19 in size than it is to the 26.

I know a lot of guys are putting G-36 slides on their G-30's and carrying them in G-19 holsters...

Not sure if that helps or not.

If the G19 fit you well then the G30 or G30SF should be no problem. Just a little more in the width department. Glock's site has the exact specs on each for you to compare the numbers but do handle one.

Sparks2112,

How are they doing that? The G30 is 1.27" in width and the G36 is 1.13" in width. How are they able to fit a smaller slide on the G30 frame? I don't see how it could even be done with smithing. Please explain.

Handled a 30SF yesterday. Very nice. Also handled a compact SW M&P45 - very very nice. Both are similar to the 19, albeit the 30 is thicker.

Yeah I'm sort of torn between the G30 and the compact M&P 45 at this point. All indications have been that the M&P has a pretty mediocre/bad trigger, but that can be cleaned up by a smith.

I don't personally find the trigger on the M&Ps to be bad. Its nothing like the renound "saggy" Sigma trigger. Its not rough, feels like a glock trigger, so I'm not sure what people seem to think is wrong with it, but to each their own.

The M&P trigger can be easily improved by a gunsmith. Greg Derr and Dan Burwell both do trigger jobs on the M&P.

The dimensions of the inside of the frame are the same though, only the 30 is thicker from the outside...

Here's an interesting thread over at glocktalk.com with pictures etc...

Here is what I found. I have a G30SF and a Gen 2 G21(w/o finger Things)

Width of slide, Same 1.125"

Length of grip from the bottom of the trigger guard to the mag well:
G30-1.55"
G21- 2.62"

Length of slide from back to end of barrel along the top:
G30- 6.75"
G21- 7.65"

The old G21 feels big in my hand and I can palm a basketball. I have a G26 and it is tiny to me but feels good in my hand. The slide is only 1.1" wide on the G26.

I find that the G30 is about the most gun I can CCW and is my Daily carry gun unless its real hot, the I carry the G26. I am sure someone has pics of them all side by side. Sitting here looking at them, there is a big diff in the sizes.

Hope this helps.....................Sam

Ok, cool. Never heard of anyone doing that. Thanks for the link.

just sold a G30 that was too big for my med sized hands, it was way bigger than my 19...replaced it with a 21sf that is comparable in size to the 19

(if you wonder why i bought the 'too big' 30 in the first place...i bought it nib and cheap from a coworker and made a small profit to help fund purchasing the 21:D)

I have owned the G21, G30 and a G29. G29 and G30 pretty much the same size, just 10mm versus .45ACP. The only one that I have kept is the G29, and it is still after over seven years my favorite CCW.

G21 is a full size pistol. I did carry mine concealed in a shoulder rig; for concealed I did not care for OWB strong side or cross draw with the G21, just did not work well for me.

G29/30 works great for me OWB again either strong side or cross draw CC. I also can carry in the same shoulder rig.

Try to get your hands on them, literally, and see what you think!

I personally do like other .45s better hence no longer have the G21 and G30, but they did go bang every pull of the trigger.

glock 30 is just a tad bigger than 26 or 27. in my opinion the 30 is one of best shooting glocks. i own the 27 and 30 .both considered sub-compacts....

I had one. It was reliable and shot well for me.

It's comparable in length and height to a Glock 19 but thicker. I have stubby hands so the thickness never felt great... but it was manageable.

The only reason I no longer have it was I sold it to fund something else. I also simplified my handgun choice to just the Glock 19 for reasons that are too boring to go into. Suffice to say, if I had more money I would still have that 30.
