I'm toying, mind you I said toying, with the idea of getting one of the NRA Edition Mini-14s. What's the experience/opinion of those who have actually bought and/or shot one as to price, accuracy and reliability?

I have a series 181 Mini-14 that was made before Ruger retooled the production line. My father has one of the newer Mini-14's much like the NRA model. Both rifles are exceptionally reliable. I think the newer rifles have a noticeable improvement in accuracy compared to the older rifles.

I prefer the iron sights on the newer rifles. I also like the fact that all of the new rifles are "ranch" models in that they have the scallops in the top of the receiver for the ruger scope mounts. The days of the clumsy side mounts are over.

The NRA Mini should be as accurate as most M-forgery carbines on the market today.
