1911 help

I have a 1911 mil spec springfield and i am wanting to replace the hammer with a wilson combat 299b deluxe commander style hammer, I thought i was reading the description right when i ordered it but, i can't get it to work nothing catches, when installed when you cock the hammer it just falls under spring tention.What am i doing wrong or did i order the wrong hammer.

Sounds like the sear spring is caught under the sear. It is the left finger in the 3 finger spring, and commonly slips under it during reassembly.

Did you replace or modify the grip safety?
If not, the "commander style" hammer may be blocked from coming all the way to full cock by the standard grip safety.
