I'm looking for a small 1911 for concealed carry, and I ran across this one:

When holster shopping, would that gun be considered an officer's size gun?

If you buy a holster sized for a Colt Officer it will fit the Slim Hawg. The Slim Hawg is actually shorter than an officer's size 1911 but that's the closest you can get without buying a holster actually made for the Slim Hawg. The Bianchi Model 82 will fit it for a leather OWB high rise retention holster. The guys at crossbreed holsters can also custom make a holster for you; they have the Slim Hawg molds.

Officers: small frame (grip shortened by one round) and a 3 1/2" barrel.
It's that simple. ;)

The Slim Hawg has a 3" barrel. :p

It’s considered a “compact” 1911. A full size officer’s model has a 5”barrel.
When shopping for holsters, look for anything that fits a compact 1911.

Sorry Big V but you're mistaken. Hornett has it right. I think you're confusing Government model w/ Officers model..

Officer's Model - 3.5 inch barrel and shortened grip frame. Here's mine:

An ultra is the equivalent of a Colt Defender.
An ultra will fit in an officers size holster because the frame is the same size.
However, the barrel is 1/2" shorter than an 'official' officer size so you have 1/2" of extra leather on the end.
That extra 1/2" is not a big deal IMHO.

Just to avoid confusion, the barrel on the pistol DaveinPA asked about is 3 1/2" so it's not a Slim Hawg.
