My Father has a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge shotgun. The letters on the left side of the barrel are RXX which when I looked them up at oldguns.net said that it was manufactured Nov. 1951. When my Father got the gun in the 60's it was in rough shape. He had it reblued and the stock refinished and has used it hunting many times since. It looks to be in good condition. Does anyone know the approximate value of this gun? Thanks!

Even as an early 870, the value was ruined by the refinish.

Value is no more than any other refinished 870, which is just what you can get for it.

Whar he said^^^
I just bought a late 50's model for $199. The rack was full of older 870s in the $175-$250 range.

Thanks,
I guess there's always sentimental value.

Yep, I've got a nickel H&R .32 break top in about 60% condition with a broken trigger return spring, I wouldn't pay $20 for it if I saw it in a gun store, but I wouldn't sell it for a $1000 since it was my grandpa's carry gun for many years while he owned/operated gas stations in the 60's/70's/80's.
