In order not to hijack the Punisher guns thread...

What was your favorite "Hollywood" gun from a movie? I don't just mean what is your favorite gun that happened to be in a movie, but a gun that was created by Hollywood for a film.

I'm kinda tossed up between the twin golden 1911's in Face/Off which were contracted out to the Springfield Custom shop and the "Auto-9" from RoboCop.

Face/Off? That's a joke, right?

For unique 1911s, it's tough to beat Sin City. Damn fine film. Classy and relatively unmodified steel is so rare in movies now, I think this movie and its firearms fit your criteria. The 1911s in it were probably made by the same Springfield shop that made those gold monstrosities. There are a few nice SAs in it, anyway.

Coolest Guns in the Movies;

Bruce Willis with Double Colts in the '' Last Man Standing '',
DeNiro with P220, Pacino with Colt in the '' Heat '' but,
none of them can reach the level of '' Dirty Harry ''.

The first two are really just chassis built around mini-14s.

The Red Heat "Podbyrin 9.2 mm" is a modified Desert Eagle.

The last is actually a real gun. The Italian "Mateba" combines the weaknesses of autoloaders and revolvers and justifiably sank into obscurity. Still cool looking:

If you were requesting which movie made the "gun" rather than just cool gun movies I don't think one was made anymore supportive of a certain model gun then that of "Dirty Harry" to include all the followups. "I know what you're wondering punk, did he fire 5 or 6 shot and to tell you the truth during all this excitement I lost count but being this is the 44magnum the worlds most powerful handgun and would blow your head clean off, you have to ask yourself, do I feel lucky? Well do you punk? Then it was funny, Harry knew he fired all six so then the bank robber says "I gots ta know! and he dry fires an empty model 29 Smith at his face and laughs. That was pure classic. It's also funny how the same guy who played the bank robber was in all his other dirty harry movies in different roles and was great. I can't see any other movie that supported a specific handgun. I also like the 1911 movies like Last Man standing and many others out there. Back to the 44magnum Smith Model 29. I don't think any other movie out there made people run out and buy a 44magnum or any other type of gun more than Dirty Harry. Smith and Wesson owe a great deal of royalties to Clint Eastwood.

Kraziken
April 10, 2008, 11:08 AM
If that is the case, I would put Deathwish 3 with the .475 Wildey magnum as one of those guns.

Similar to Dirty Harry, many Wildey magnums were sold after that movie. And I read a thing online that everytime the movie plays on Cable they have a small surge in sales.

Some really great ones in here.

Remember... this is about guns that Hollywood made... Clint's Mod 29 was just an off the shelf Mod 29 S&W. Same for the Wildey that Bronson used.

That one from Trigun is really slick!

Deffinately have to vote for the M41-A pulse rifles in Aliens; most awesome assault rifle I've seen in a movie yet. The sound they had for it firing was incredible.

Also really liked most of the guns on Firefly/Serenity, primarily because they weren't your typical sci-fi weapons. Jayne's Vera was also rather entertaining to look at.

One of my all time favorites had to come in Tremors 2, when the single shot Grizzly .50 cal was fired. That was my first experience with that size rifle, and I've loved seeing the big fifties in action ever since.

LOL, I thought I was the only one who's seen "I Come in Peace!" Not that anyone should go out and see it since it was a typically cheesy 80's flick.

My vote would be for the anime "Jin-Roh." The characters, though Japanese, wear Nazi-inspired battle suits and tote MG42's almost like a regular rifle. Of course, the story takes place in an alternate history. Although it was animated, here's a pic of some fans dressed up in costume.

+1 on the M134 Minigun in Predator. Awesome firepower.

I still like Hans Solo's modfied 1896 Broomhandle Mauser that was his sidearm in Star Wars.

While growing up, THE gun I wanted was Vic Morrow's Thompson SMG he used in the TV Show Combat!. The other guns we thought were cool were Nick Adams' sawed off SxS shotgun used in The Rebel and the cut-down Winchester favored by Steve McQueen in the series Wanted: Dead or Alive.

"used to love the guns in "The Professional," but after I actually started owning firearms, all those compensators and doodads on them have kind of turned me off."

That final scene featured most, if not every, make of .223 Assault Rifle in the world. Nice to see them all but kind of ridiculous too Each operator having something different even if that was authorized. Loved all the comps but otherwise stock carbines, favorite guns that I dreamed of a collection of, till i got turned off on the .223

My pick at the moment-Pam Greir's M-2 Enforcer in the Big Bird Cage. Or maybe it was just an Enforcer Stembridge or the Phillipines based prop team had converted to select fire. This one had finger grooves in the wood grip, and wood top handguard, can't remember the front sight. But a cool looking ol' gun from a funky old exploitation movie, one of my favorites. The rest were typical Women In Prison genre assortment of US and Soviet subguns and sidearms. Pam toted this PDW around inside an acoustic guitar, and backed it up with a Kris dagger. Sid Haig stuck with a blue 1911A1 and Barong.

Tom Sizemore in Heat as Michael Cerrito had: FN FAL 50.64 (21" Para), Benelli M3 Super 90 (PG Stock and full ext., Rifle sights), Galil ARM .223 (why the bipod?), and a Ruger KP-90 (Safety or DC unknown, either way carried cocked and unlocked). Those would be nice hanging on a rack on your wall, huh?

I loved the shootout scenes in the Way of The Gun, and appreciated the simple selection of guns (1911's, USP's, Hi Power, 590 Mariner, 870 Express Syn. 7rd., assorted snubs and few other shotguns, and Galil ARM .308) as well as realistic approach they were portrayed with (except the Galil row of bullets across wall 1" apart scene)

In the original movie, there were only 4 shots fired, some off screen. Harry knew he had only fired 5, and gave his speech, BOTH times, with the hammer cocked over a live round. He had dropped the hammer, advancing past the live round, for ' I gots to know.'

I was just watching this again over the weekend. It's a good movie, but the firearms are just laughable at times. At least one of the SWAT operators (the one talking to Leon after the medic treats him) has an Armi Jager AP-74 (.22lr M-16 lookalike). He holds the rifle muzzle up during the conversion and the fact that a small .22lr magazine is inserted in the fake .223 magazine (which is really an extension of the magazine well) is clearly visable.

Of course, I won't even touch on the idea of setting up a belt fed machinegun to launch a "rifle grenade".

My favorite guns made specifically for a movie would be the Shadow's Silver Heat .45 magnums....

They just had a retro cool look to them.
THey were customized Grizzlies with long slides that had been retrofitted with mil spec parts....

I notice many of the Hollywood guns are made by Tim La France. He did the Robocop gun and the Red Heat gun....

You see some interesting guns in Spaghetti Westerns like the six barrel derringers Lee Van Cleef packed in some of them....

There were a bunch of cool modified guns in Nemesis, starring Oliver Grunier including a lase sighted belt fed vulcan....

+1 on Hellboy's guns. I like absurdly large pistols like Howdah pistols and the such. Although contemporary pistols like the .500 Magnum just leave me flat. Maybe if they were blued with huge walnut grips?

Angelina Jolies twin Sig 220s from Tomb Raider

I didn't see the movie but I thought that she used HK USP Match handguns, like in Underworld.

Socrates Arnold didn't use a minigun in Predator. That was the other governor in the novie, Jesse Ventura. However Arnold did use one in Terminator 2. The minigun has got to be the coolest gun in any movie.

If we're going into videogames, Visaman, then +1 for the Lancer. Also the laptop gun from Perfect Dark. Who wouldn't want a small machine gun that you can plant as an auto-turret?

I cant seem to find pictures of them but the automatic shotguns from "Split Second (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105459/)" were pretty cool. Its kind of an obscure movie.

The Spas 12 folder was also used in Terminator and Jurassic Park. That was going to be my vote. :)

The most different carry gun I recall having seen in a movie was a Mauser C-96 carried in a small-of-the-back holster (horizontally). The movie was "Second Best Secret Agent". Another out of the ordinary gun that appeared in one obscure Danish Sci-Fi movie was a Madsen light machine gun.

Time to dust this puppy off again!

The BAR in the Sand Pebbles.
The MG42 and Browning 1919 belt-feeders in Saving Private Ryan, as well as the 20mm.
The 6" matte stainless steel Colt Python in AMC's Walking Dead series.
Speaking of Pythons, how about the 4" blue Python featured in the handgun competition by one of the bad guys in the Dirty Harry movie "Magnum Force"?

This is from an old TV show, but they did make several movies from it:

The U.N.C.L.E. special from The Man from U.N.C.L.E., the gun was so amazing it even got fan mail when the series aired!

They've already invoked 2 of my four favorites (Mares leg & M41 pulse rife), I'm quite surprised no one mentioned the blade runner pistol:

http://ohbah.com/forumimages/bladerunnerpistol.gif

And James bond's CCW sniper rifle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky4G0O5-u3U)

I already own an AR-7 and will be picking up a mares leg next month (both by henry), now I'm waiting for Mr. Imperio to license the the other two.
