I have a RRA AR-15 with a 20" heavy barrel HB upper. I'd like a free float tube on it. I've seen that you have to remove the front sight, the gas tube and the D ring to put it on. Any tips here? Is it a difficult job? I know I'd need an upper reciever block and an armorers tool, but what else? I've always done most of my own work but AR's are new to me.

You don't have to remove all of those parts for all "free floats", some allow you to keep the original front sight base. But I guess if you want a true FF, you'll have to.

Everything that is high quality comes with the price tag. Daniel Defense and Larue Tactical are big names. YHM will work, but I don't think is the same quality and standards as the former two. I have some rails from them, and not all things fit on there easily and tight just as an example.

No doubt you already know about Brownells and Midway for your tools. If you have done your own work on other platforms, you can most certainly do this to your AR.
