Have an opportunity to pick up this Armalite AR10-A4......don't know much about them. Quality? Accuracy?

Wow, that's a nice rifle. I would get one, but I don't like muzzle breaks.

Quality is very good. Accuracy exceptional for a semi-auto rifle. I have an AR-10B, the one with the strange hook like bolt handle under the carrying handle and the old style Sudanese furniture. It has recoil and feel comparable to an FAL, but I would say the sights allow for better accuracy. It's a bit front heavy like all strong battle rifles, but balance is okay. I got a used one for $1100.00 with almost no rounds through it, and it's become one of my favorite shooters. Sure is more satisfying that the weaker AR-15, especially since I'm used to the power of k98 rifles. It's a little easier to clean than AR-15 because of the larger chamber. It has a stronger recoil spring than an AR-15, so it was judged that a forward assist was not necessary. I did have some crappy surplaus ammo that did not feed fully, mostly because the ammo was a little out of spec and the casing edges were burred. It fed West German .308 no problem, and comparably high quality ammo will have no problems. The bolt is not surprisingly larger and well made. It has lower recoil than any HK delayed roller block design in .308. It was noticeably much lighter in recoil than the PTR-91. While no AR design is as reliable as the M-14, this one approaches it and is a little lighter to boot. You can save money if you buy a nice used one like I did. Hope this helps. The Armalite AR-10 is the ruler by which clones like the DPMS .308 Panther series are measured.

I had a real nice AR-10A4 20" SPR plus a spare 16" carbine upper.
I ended up selling all of my AR-10 stuff off in favor of another M14 build.

If you decide to get it, make sure you get Gen-II mags for it.

Is that a muzzle brake or just a really fancy flash supressor?

Thanks DARIVS ARCHITECTVS for the info, it's second hand and has never been fired. Guy bought it some years ago and just sat in his collection.

davlandrum, appears to be a stainless flash hider.

SR420, comes with 10 magazines.
