I have a couple XP pistols in 7mmBR one of which was drilled through and milled and mounted on an epoxied stock of aluminum blocks to turn it into a race gun. Likely twenty year old job. I would like to convert to another caliber but unlike the Savage 110 series with a screw-in barrel and changeable bolt heads the Remington short action used here has a different bolt design.
If changing the XP style bolt from 7mm BR to something using a non-.308 head dimensions what else can be made to fit? The rifle version must have had some varmint calibers and hopefully the .204 Ruger head can be acommodated. Will this cartridge fit and with what mods?
