There are NO FAULTS with this gun(mechanically). It fits my hand like a glove, the trigger is...OH so sweet, But, I have not warmed up to it like I thought I would.

I purchased it, and then a week later traded for an HK USP. I like everything about the USP(especially the controlsl, and bore axis) They are both .45's.
This P220 is beautiful, but I much prefer the looks of HK, and I really like my Glocks.

So now here I sit, looking at this work of mechanical art, wondering if we will ever be able to work things out:(

If not, it's going up for sale/trade.

Frankly I had a 220 for a short time, but it did not grow on me either. I much prefer the smaller Sig frames myself. Have owned the 225(now cheap as the used P6 imported police versions) or the 239 I now have. And had a 229 but let it go, too. Have a little Beretta that is filling the compact hicap role right now. You might enjoy trading down to a 239 in 40 or 357 Sig if the 9 leaves you cold. The 239 practically jumps into my hand, with some Hogue exotic wood smooth grips on it. Trigger alot better than the 220 or 225 on mine, too.

Tom2 may have the ticket, if you don't like the look the easiest way to alter it would be some fancy grips. You can change the entire personality of the gun with a new grip a little pretty to balance out the strict mechanic perfection look.

I tend to like the HK:D

I can't really pin this on looks, alot of it boils down to...it's cumbersome. It's not as sleek as my HK or 1911, not lightweight by anymeans, and mag cap is less than HK.

I like the feel of the gun, I love the trigger, not to mention it's accurate as I'll ever dream of being.

I think I got it because it's the have to have Sig. And while it is an Awesome gun, I just don't know If I will give it the attention it needs.

I have a friend that has 2 USP Tacticals, one in 9mm and the other in .45 acp. I have handled them and they are HUGE! They are larger than most other comparible handguns out there. I'm sure they're nice, but I think they are too big. I don't have small hands and the grip just felt too large. I prefer the feel of a Sig. Although, I would looovvveee to have a MK 23 Socom!!!

The HK is a "deep" grip for sure.
But, the grips on the Sig add to girth. I have a "universal" grip. No gun feels bad to me.

I think alot of it has to do w/my job. I work with sheetmetal(hvac), so I have a strong grip, from using snips all day.

In all probability, you won't like every gun you buy.

There are NO FAULTS with this gun(mechanically). It fits my hand like a glove, the trigger is...OH so sweet, But, I have not warmed up to it like I thought I would. I kinda feel the same way about my P226...I bought my M&P the month as the Sig and I might actually like the M&P better...

but I'm not really an HK fan; it just doesn't fit my hand -the grip is way to too thin and looong for me. And don't really like the super high bore axis...

I lo-o-ove my trusty old P220, but if you don't, you don't! There ain't no accounting for taste.

If it's not the gun for you, at least it's a SIG and should have excellent resale.

I know what you mean, the 220 just isn't a 'sexy' gun. Pretty utilitarian, goes bang every time. Ergonomics just aren't that great.

But mine's a keeper.

I got mine used for $329 and I love it. It's very light for a full sized 45, the trigger is great, ditto on sights and it functions perfectly. Finally, accuracy is superb for a combat type pistol.

I also have a 1911, Ballestar Molina and an XD45. They are all different and I like em all.

Variety is the spice of life. :D

I find the Sigs a bit clunky unless they have the "short" trigger. Otherwise they are accurate and dead-reliable.

HK? Sleek? What? I can't swallow that but I think my Colt is more attractive than the 220 I had. It might be the last semi I part with if I ever decide to go all wheelgun. With the 239 a close second.

Tom2, the rail on the Sig looks like a friggin chopsaw.
I like the more "swept" design of the HK.

Is the HK better lookin the my 1911, hell no. But it has that "tacticool" look to it.

I own two P220 a standard and a ST model, the standard was my first Sig and it took some time to get use to but once I did I love the way they shoot. I love my HK's too though.

Sorry to hear you didn't like you P220 as it was.

I know before I got my P220SAO a couple of weeks ago, I rented a P220DAK (it's the only P220 they had) to see if I liked it. I happened to like it ALOT, and could tell the SAO eliminated the issues I didn't like about the DAK and DA/SA version.

That and the safety placed/operated similarly (from a user POV) to a 1911, really sold me on it. I also liked that, unlike the 1911, the safety could be engaged, you can load a mag, chamber a round, and still be on safe. With a 1911, traditionally, the safety locks the slide, so you have to load, cock, THEN lock.

Just another alternative, and a little bit different than the DAK and DA/SA P220s.

Yeah I know, the MK23 is a large gun. But, I think I could deal with it. They are just awesome.:D

The HKs there look like the bastard offspring of a 1911 and a Glock. Not pretty, to me.

I love my 220. Fits my hand perfectly, perfect in every way, and to me, it's beautiful! :)

I own 2 1911 type pistols and a .45 Sig. 1 Dan Wesson Pointman and 1 Colt Series 70 pistol. I also have a Sig P-220 in .45 caliber. I like all 3 of my pistols but the Sig is my favorite carry gun.

I had a Sig 226 for a little while, but I did not like it. Can not really tell you why that was so, because it shot decent enough. It just did not feel right. Traded it for a Springfield EMP, which is wonderful after being broken in a bit.

I have a Sig P239 SAS DAK trigger w/lasermax and I love that trigger, not to meantion that the gun itself is easy on the eyes.

I really like the looks of the gun, but found it to difficult/bulk for carry. I let it go. Now the Kahr K9 that took it's place...Very nice gun. Same sight setup, easy to carry, and I feel much easier on the eyes than my p220. No rail on the Kahr, plus clean smooth lines.

I'd like to get a nice set of cocobolo grips for it.

I own both a SIG 220 (Carry) and an HK USP40 and like them both. However, other features aside, in terms of how the pistols "feel" I much prefer the SIG. As others have noted, so much of ergonomics (friendly to the touch) is wholly subjective in nature and dependent on individual taste.

They're all good choices for general purpose pistols, except for that MK23, which of course was never intended to be such a criter.

Go with what you like.
