i just bought a stevens 200 in .300win mag mainly because of the price and it could be a good hunting rifle but was wondering without any modifications other than scope and good ammo would it be accuarte out to 600yds

It depends, really.

Some of accuracy is the equipment--rifle, optics, and ammo. But most of it is the shooter.

Plus it depends on your idea of accuracy. Are you expecting sub-MOA or is hunting accuracy going to suffice?

I have no experience with the Stevens, but 600 yards can be a fair poke, depending on what level of accuracy you are expecting.

Most of my rifles are sub-MOA at 100 yards. The only one I've shot at 500, my '06, held the same 0.8 MOA as at 100. FWIW, my father got the same sort of result. That's some fifty-plus years' worth of messin' around with '06s...

So, IMO, if it shoots good at 100, it oughta shoot good at 500 or 600.
