Lapping a mil-surp

I am kinda ignorant of the process of lapping, but it would seem that it goes a long way to "polishing" the bore....would this be useful in smoothing out a milsurp bore? Obviously you couldn't remove all of the corrosion, but would it help?

Get a bunch of surplus ammo and shoot it a lot. Don't use the copper solvent too often and it'll smooth out.

You can buy a fire-lapping bullet set from Midway, but it probably won't make a bit of difference.
