Hey guys. I have a Colt Government model that has some weird sites on it. I want to get some nite sites installed. Any ideas what these are?http://web.mac.com/timetravelfoundation/iWeb/The%20LAMP/Gun%20Pics_files/MyPicture.jpg

After enhancing your photo (brightness) it appears to be a Novak low profile sight. It might be a night-sight or not.

It isn't a night site model. It has three dots (well, two plus the front) and the rear sight is serrated/corrugated. The novak sites don't seem to be exactly the same. Here is a pic from Novack, note how the rearmost dovetail angles.http://www.novaksights.com/images/sights/colt%20com/competition-side.jpg

That is a Colt factory sight that first appeared on the CZ made Colt Z40. CZ also offers the same sight on the CZ 40. I am not sure if CZ supplies the sights to Colt or if it is the other way around.

How old or young is your XSE? I just pulled 3 XSE's from my safe (2 5" and 1 commander) and the sights on them did not have that rear tab.

That's what I'd call the XS sight, from the '98-'99 period. I think it was first seen on the Defender, but was later used on the CCO, Commander, OACP, etc. The early XSE had the standard G.I.-style dovetail, while the later ones have a Novak cut. The XS cut was proprietary, and the only thing similar on the gun market today is some sights seen on CZ pistols.
