Buffalo has been going all out with many benefit events for a female officer shot and paralyzed several months ago. Her partner grabbed the shooter since he was already standing next to him, had no time to pull his own gun while his partner was being shot-just interposed himself, put the shooter in bear hug and took 3 of the shots himself but never let go, one shot near his own spine but he's OK now. He has given any donations or award money he himself was given to his partner, gone on local TV to publicize the various events in her behalf. Here's a link to one involving the whole city if anyone interested. Another will be held next weekend, Jay Leno helping that one by donating one of his motorcyles for a drawing prize: (I believe the officer is a finalist in a TV show called something like "Heroes", and if he wins has pledged that award also to his partner.)
